Jimmie Hahn, Sr., 89, of Brenham, died Feb. 14, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Hahn was born July 27, 1917, in Prairie Hill, Texas, to Michael and Emma Herrmann Hahn. He attended Gay Hill and Prairie Hill schools. He was baptized in St. John Lutheran Church on Oct. 26, 1917 and was later confirmed on May 15, 1932 in St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. On Aug. 13, 1935, he was married to Alma Wood in Somerville. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Beginning in 1945 with one dump truck hauling sand and gravel, he and his wife worked side by side to build the business into Jimmie Hahn Ready Mix. He retired in 1977 from Jimmie Hahn, Inc. Mr. Hahn enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing and hunting. He also loved to dance, bowl and play cards and dominoes. Some of his greatest memories were his travels around the world with his wife and their friends. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Alma Hahn of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Jr. and Jeri Hahn, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Charles Schulte, and son and daughter-in-law, Charles Ray and Cynthia Hahn, all of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Annie Mae Hahn of Brenham; grandchildren, Casey and Lisa Hahn of Caldwell, Michael and Coco Hahn of Brenham, Neal and Holly Hahn of Chappell Hill, Stacey Schulte Walters and husband Val of Brenham, Stephanie Schulte Kaiser and husband Curtis of College Station, John Schulte and wife Kristi of Charlotte, Abbie Hahn Knezek and husband Brian of Yoakum, Emily Hahn of Austin, Katie Hahn of College Station and Andrew Hahn of Kyle; great-grandchildren, C.J., Jason and Angela Hahn, Mary Kate and Winston Walters, Kristin and Conner Kaiser and Dillon and Caden Schulte; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wood of Spring, Lillian Brennen and husband Joe of Houston; brother-in-law, Ralph Kopplin of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; two sisters, Allyne Myrow and Elsie Runge; and grandson, Adam Hahn. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastor Matthew Jacobs and Pastor William Holzer officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Casey Hahn, Michael Hahn, Neal Hahn, John Schulte, Andrew Hahn, Val Walters, Curtis Kaiser and Brian Knezek. All employees of Jimmie Hahn, Inc. and La Grange Concrete and Aggregates, Inc. will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
