Jodie Vaughn

December 23, 1943 — May 18, 2017

Jodie Ray Vaughn, 73, died May 18, 2017, at his home in Brenham.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jodie was born Dec. 23, 1943, at Bohne Hospital to Peirson and Mildred Vaughn. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Jodie graduated from Brenham High School in 1962 and began working at Brenham Auto Supply.

He met and married Diane DuBose in 1967 at First Methodist Church in Angleton. Together they had two children, Jason Ray Vaughn and his wife Monica, and Laurie Ann Vaughn Noah and her husband Sean.

They are the proud grandparents of six grandkids: Dakota, Joshua, Makayla, Andrew, Viviana and David; and two great-grandkids: Grace and A.J.

Jodie was the second of the three sons to Peirson and Mildred. His brothers are Jerry Vaughn and James Vaughn.

Jodie loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed sharing happy, funny memories. He loved making things with wood. Most of all he loved seeing people laughing and having a great time. His enjoyable moments were sitting in the front swing and waving hi to all going by and giving all his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids a ride on the riding lawn mower.

Jodie was preceded by his parents Peirson and Mildred Vaughn. He is survived by his wife, Diane; two children and their spouses, Jason and Monica Vaughn and Laurie and Sean Noah; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Bernice Vaughn and James and Karon Vaughn; as well as nieces and nephews.
