Joe Edward Bayer, Sr., 58, of Channelview, Texas, passed away November 16, 2010 in the V.A. Hospital in Houston. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Pastor Charles Parnell will officiate. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Born to William F. and Lydia Sturm Bayer in Burton, Texas on January 4, 1951, Joe served his country in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He worked as a welder/fitter in the construction business, and was a member of the American Legion Post in Channelview. He is survived by his son, Joe E. Bayer, Jr. of Brenham; grandchildren Ethan Noel Bayer and Larissa Bayer; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lillie Mae and Bruno Cendalski, Ora Nell and Melvin Loesch, Francis and Alvin Lehmann, Rosa Marie and Billy Blocker, and also by a sister-in-law, JoAnn Bayer. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Daniel Bayer and James Bayer. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham. 979836-4564.
