Joe Moore

Joe L. Moore, 94, husband of Lonnie Moore, left his earthly home and entered his heavenly home on January 30, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Independence Baptist Church, with Dr. Tim Owens and Rev. John Free officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery.

Joe L. Moore was born August 7, 1923 in Lancaster, Texas. He was baptized August 10, 1937. Mr. Moore proudly served his country for 3 years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On November 1, 1942, he married Lonnie Pierson, and they enjoyed 75 years of marriage. He was employed by Exxon Mobil.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Survivors include his wife, Lonnie Pierson Moore; son, Greg Moore of Brenham; daughter, Sharon Moore Hill of Cedar Park; daughter-in-law, Debbie Moore; grandchildren: David Hill (Suzanne), Laurie Roberts (Jason Berry); Joel Moore (Jennifer), John Moore (Melissa), Justin Moore (Laura), and Bradley Moore; great-grandchildren: Kathryn Hill, Tatum Moore, Parker Moore, Kimbell Moore, and Katelyn Moore.

Joe was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Jack Strickland Moore in 2011.

Serving as pallbearers are his grandchildren: David Hill, Laurie Hill Roberts, Joel Moore, Justin Moore, John Moore, Bradley Moore, and great-granddaughter, Kathryn Hill.
