Johanna Hoiseth

August 13, 1936 — August 9, 2024

Johanna Marie Hoiseth passed away on August 9, 2024, after an illness of Alzheimer's disease. She was a creative and talented lady with hobbies of painting, needlepoint, pottery, stained glass, and was a Master Gardener, and an accomplished pianist. Most of all, she had a big heart and love for animals and creatures of all kinds. She born was August 13, 1936 to William Henry Wenk and Annie Marie Wenk in Richmond Hill, New York. After High School in Flushing, New York, she came to Austin, Texas at the behest of her sister Edna Skeer, and began working to support herself and attending The University of Texas. There, she met the love of her life Merlin G. Hoiseth while working in the Mechanical Engineering department. They married in December 1960 and eventually had three children: Merlin Stanley Hoiseth, Johanna Marie Hoiseth, and Georgeanna Lynn Hoiseth. Merlin's job took him to Houston, Texas where they lived for ten years, then moved to Alvin, Texas, and finally to Zionsville, a community outside Brenham, Texas in 2007

Survivors are: Merlin, their three children: five grandchildren; Meghan M. Thuneman, Grant M. Smith, Hanna M. Bixler, Honey N. Hazelwood, and Jessica Hoiseth and eleven Great Grandchildren. Her cremation will be conducted by Memorial Oaks Chapel Funeral Home, Brenham, Texas. A memorial service is not presently planned.

In deep sorrow, we say goodbye to my loving wife, the mother, grandmother, and great grandmother of those she loved and nurtured.
