John Hicks, Jr.

John Cummings Pete Hicks, Jr., 69, of Marble Falls, Texas, found his final resting place on Monday, May 30, 2011. He was born October 12, 1941 in Hempstead, Texas. He retired with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Brenham, Texas after 35 years of faithful service in February of 1997. Before falling ill, Pete enjoyed fishing and hunting. His love as a spectator to different sporting events was truly his passion; particularly high school football where the Brenham Cubs felt his continued support. A winning year may not be possible for the New York Yankees without Pete! He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Sandi Dempsey Hicks; two loving children: son, Tracy Hicks and wife Marlene Hall Hicks of Georgetown, Texas, and his daughter, Teri Hicks Hammack and husband Matthew Hammack of Fort Worth, Texas. He had four beautiful grandchildren: Jason Martin and wife, Casey Martin; Cody Hicks and wife, Brittany Hicks, Whittney Martin and Trey Hicks; two great-grandchildren: Ava Martin and Brody Hicks; a sister, Judy Hicks Box and nieces and a nephew: Nancy Lightfoot and husband, Michael Lightfoot, Kelly Box, and Mark Purvis and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Nancy Hicks of Hempstead, Texas, and a grandson, Brian C. Martin. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Rev. Jon Siemsglusz officiating. Interment will be in Hempstead City Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Jacobs, Trey Hicks, Cody Hicks, Jason Martin, Mac Morris, Matthew Hammack, Charles Dempsey, Giles Summerlin, Gerald Muckelroy and Tracy Hicks.
