John Johnny Steve Horak, 71, of Brenham, TX, died April 18, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Horak was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Brenham, to John Lee and Pearl Swierkowski Horak. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary s and public schools. Mr. Horak served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1954 to 1956. On April 26, 1958, he was married to Mary Krause in St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham. Mr. Horak was a mechanic at Appel Auto Country in Brenham. Survivors include his wife, Mary Horak of Brenham; sons, Lee Thomas Horak and friend Peggy Marshall, Brian John Horak and wife Wendy, Clarence W. Holder, Robert D. Holder and Michael C. Holder Sr. and fiancée Suzie Sefcik, all of Brenham; daughters, Mary Ann Horak and fiancé Dave Exter of Pasadena, Maryland and Donna Louise Paulk and husband Marshall of Lumberton; grandchildren, John L. Davis Jr., Jacob L. Davis, Joshua L. Davis, Jamie L. Nugent, Chad M. Nugent, Michael C. Holder Jr., Christopher P. Holder, Brianna Horak, Leann Steinfeld and Dustin Paulk; great-grandchildren, Cole Davis, Kate Davis, Kennedy Davis, Cooper Davis, Michael Holder III and Vivian Holder; sisters, Dorothy Hugo of Houston and Veronica Maiolo and husband Sam of Spring; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marvin L. Weidemann, Sr., Daniel C. Krause, Bertha Geick, Margaret and Willie Brinkmeyer, Natalie and Billie Jasinski and Rita and Freddie Hugo, all of Brenham, Delores Krause of Bryan and Tina Horak of Huntsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank Steve Horak; grandson, Steven Holder; parents, John Lee and Pearl Horak; brother, Jerry Lee Horak; parents-in-law, Henry T. Sr. and Louise Jozwiak Krause, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry T. Krause Jr., Gladys Krause, Frank C. Krause Sr., Beulah Krause Weidemann, Clyde Geick and Lonnie Hugo. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21 in St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham with Father David Ivey, celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Brenham. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 in Memorial Oaks Chapel with the family receiving visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons: John L. Davis Jr., Jacob L. Davis, Joshua L. Davis, Jamie L. Nugent, Chad M. Nugent and Michael C. Holder Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus L. Wiedemann, Danielle A. Alvarado, Brianna R. Horak, Marty L. Weidemann, Carl J. Krause and employees of Appel Auto Country. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham.
