John Leo Johnny Kaminski, 64, of Houston entered into eternal rest early on April 5, 2005. He was retired from Elf Exploration. Born in Brenham, Texas on September 11, 1940, Johnny was one of two sons born to Leon & Sophie Murski Kaminski. Preceded in death by his parents, John is survived by his brother, Bernard B. Kaminski of Houston, as well as a number of relatives and friends. A loyal and sensitive son, brother and friend, John was an independent and caring person who was always doing for others. John was a leader in Houston s Polonia, contributing selflessly to the needs and causes of the Polish-American community. He was a member of the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas and he served as Financial Secretary of Kosciuszko Lodge #165 of the Polish National Alliance since 1976. He served as Vice-President of PNA Council 182 from 1974-1999 and was a five-time delegate to the PNA National Convention. John was a Past-President of the Polish American Congress-Houston Chapter, a Past Director of the PAC State Division and was honored with the Heritage Award by the PAC in 1982. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #2917 and the Chappell Hill Historical Society. Visitation at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home on Friday, April 8 will begin at 3 p.m., with the recitation of the rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. James B. Anderson, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2005. A luncheon will be served immediately following the Mass. Graveside services will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Brenham, Texas at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be The Honorable Dale Gorczynski, Larry Gurka, Lawrence Wisnoski, Andrew Januhowski, Jr., Frank Krotofil, Joseph Granowski, Jr., Charles Ogrodowicz and Tim Murski. The following will be considered as being honorary pallbearers: Cashin J. Clay, Virginia F. Hill, Michael Krotofil, Bernard Pribilski, Patrick Murski and Robby Murski. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials in John s name may be directed to the building fund of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. John s relatives and friends would like to take this opportunity to thank Vitas Hospice-The Forum at Memorial Woods for the excellent care given to Johnny during his final days among us.
