John Mason

Funeral services for John Hoover Mason, 92, of Brenham, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Burton Baptist Church. Mr. Mason passed away December 2, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. John Mason was born November 9, 1920 in Georgetown to John Huling and Irene Estelle King Mason. After high school, he entered the U. S. Army, serving during World War II. He married Vernell Boehnemann on Nov. 23, 1947 in St. Martin''s Lutheran Church in Austin. He was employed as a postal supervisor. Survivors include sons William John Mason and wife Madeline Ann Coblenz of Houston, and James Kevin Mason, formerly of Smithville; grandson Jack Mitchell Mason of Houston, and a sister-in-law, Arlyn Hearn of Gilbert, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell, on November 1, 2012. Memorials may be directed to Burton Baptist Church of Burton.
