Joseph Morris

Joseph Doyle Morris, 80, of Chappell Hill, Texas, died May 25, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Morris was born April 23, 1924, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to William Randolph and Hattie Gazelle Morris. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On July 17, 1948, he was married to Theresa Adeline Chrisman in Nocona, Texas. Survivors include his son, Chris Morris and wife, Anais Nelson of Austin; daughter, Debra Morris and husband Geoffrey Birkholz of Galveston; grandson, Clayton Morris of Georgetown; granddaughter, Rebecca Birkholz of Galveston; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Jack Woodard of Arlington, Conova and Gene Thomas of Midland and Frieda Gross of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Randolph and Hattie Gazelle Morris; his wife, Theresa Morris; and brothers, Kent Morris, Fred Morris, Reese Morris and Burl Morris. Mr. Morris was a loving parent and grandfather. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at 3630 W. Hilltop Dr., Chappell Hill, Texas. The family will receive visitors at the family residence beginning at noon Friday.
