Joyce Dean

Joyce Lynn Dean, 60, of Brenham, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Hospice Brazos Valley In-patient Facility Bryan, Texas. Joyce passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, after a 6 month battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 6:00-8:00pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday morning at 10:00 on May 25, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, and the burial will follow at Germania Cemetery in Kenney, Texas.

Joyce was born on August 16, 1956 in Bellville, Texas to Burgess and Irene Goeke. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Education at Sam Houston State University and served the Brenham School District as a kindergarten teacher for 33 years. A devoted and loving wife and mother, Joyce’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, either at home or traveling near and far to see her two children. Joyce lived life to the fullest and her love of life was contagious - she was a beautiful light in the lives of the students she taught, her friends, and even those who knew her only knew briefly. And for her family, she was and will always be the source of their strength, happiness and love.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Burgess and Irene Goeke; mother-in-law, Carolyn Dean and brother-in-law, Nolan Wickel.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Billy F. Dean of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny Dean and Fabiano Pedrotta of Lausanne, Switzerland; son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Theresa Dean of Princeton, New Jersey; brother and sister-in-law, Dewane and Ruth Goeke of Brenham; sister, Elaine Wickel of Bellville; and brother, Roy Goeke of Bellville.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Bluebell Rd, Brenham, Texas. The family wishes to extend their great appreciation to Hospice Brazos Valley for their care.
