Joyce Helen (Fischer) Ullrich of Carmine, Texas passed away June 8, 2020 at the age of 79. Joyce was born to Willie and Erna (Duisberg) Fischer on July 9, 1940 in Greens Creek, Texas. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Dean Ullrich on June 28, 1959.

After graduating from Round Top Carmine High School, she worked at various jobs including the Giddings State School and Gerland’s eggs. She eventually became a stay at home mom to raise her 3 children and resumed working in sales after they all graduated from high school.

Joyce loved spending time with family and friends and especially taking care of her grandbabies. She loved fishing, cooking, canning pickles, barbequing and watching her grandkids at different sporting events. She and Deanie loved traveling to casinos and going to the “camp house” parties with friends. She was always willing to help out family and friends by cooking a meal or babysitting grandkids.

Joyce belonged to the Ladies Aid and Mary groups and was an active member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dean Ullrich of almost 61 years. She is survived by her sister-in-law Pauline Fischer (Peetsie), son and daughter-in-law Rocky and Stacy Ullrich of Brenham, her daughter and son-in-laws Ronda and Mark Kunkel of Burton and Robin and Brady Conger of New Braunfels. Her grandchildren, Sierra and Alan Richard, Spencer and Courtney Kunkel, Paden Ullrich, Reanna Ullrich and David Arvidson and Tye and Mindy Conger. Great grandchildren Presley and Brinley Richard and Chayse Kunkel.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Burial will follow in Carmine Cemetery.

A visitation will be held at 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

After the funeral service at the church there will be fellowship and a celebration of life at the Carmine Hall.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
