Julian Jay Earl Weisler, II, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2015. Jay was born to Julian Earl and Dorothy Dixon Weisler on February 8, 1936 in Brenham, Texas. He was baptized on March 23, 1936 in St. Peter''s Episcopal Church in Brenham. He attended Brenham ISD until his father was called away in the military service during WWII then attended schools in Germany and Highland Falls High School, New York, graduating in 1953. He was appointed to the West Point Military Academy, graduating in 1959. After graduating from West Point, Jay served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Rangers in Vietnam for two years. He was known as the great white whale because he was a big man and a very strong swimmer. He would swim across wide rivers in Danang and secure a line so all the other troops could get across. However, after suffering an injury during battle, he was sent to Japan to recover, then to Korea to complete the two years. He returned to the States, while still on active duty, to attend law school at the University of Texas. Upon completion of his degree in law, he returned to Vietnam serving another two years in the Judge Advocate General''s Core Jag. While on active duty, he received the following decorations: Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/star; Parachutist Badge; Combat Infantryman''s Badge; National Defense Service Medal; Bronze star Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster. He left active duty in the army in 1968, but continued in the reserve Jag Core for another 16 years, retiring as Full Colonel. Upon leaving active duty in 1968, Jay returned to Brenham and began practicing law with his father. He was made partner at Spinn, Ehlert Spinn, Weisler and Weisler in 1968. He continued to practice law until 1996. Jay met his future wife of 36 years on a blind date. Jay married Jeraldyne Jerry Louise Lehde on October 29, 1968 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. They had two daughters, Christina and Caryn. They raised their girls on family land going back generations where Jay loved to spend time fishing, growing vegetables, restoring antiques in his workshops and barbecuing. Jerry predeceased Jay January 12, 2004. Jay married his second wife, Bonnie Jacoby Webb February 22, 2006 in the chapel at the Military Academy Chapel at West Point, New York. They enjoyed a loving and fulfilling life together for nine years. Jay was dedicated to community and the aid and welfare of veterans. During his life, he served as: President of Brenham Noon Lions Club; Washington County Chamber of Commerce; Washington County Bar Association; Commander of the American Legion Post #48; member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans; Trustee of Blinn College from 1976-1992; member and served on the church council and President of the congregation; Director of the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest; served on the Board of Directors of Washington on the Brazos Museum and parks; Director of the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church; appointed as Municipal Court Judge on July 20, 2000, and served as Region VII Director of the Texas Municipal Courts Association from 2005 to 2007. This does not include his complete service and dedication to community or his history of serving his country and veterans as he continued his involvement to the end of his life. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Natalie Weisler Andreas and her husband Charles; Penelope Weisler Bond, and one brother, James Stephen Weisler. He is survived by daughters Christina Weisler Hunt and her husband Martin of London, England; Caryn Weisler Jones and husband Christopher of Houston, Texas; grandson Julian Daniel Jones of Houston, Texas and granddaughter Caroline Dixon Hunt of London, England. He is also survived by his second wife of 9 years, Bonnie Jacoby Webb Weisler and her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he took under his wing as his own family: sons: Andrew Boyd Webb, Pete Eugene Webb, daughter Marry Christine Webb McCoul; grandchildren, Tova Lorren Ariel of whom he was particularly fond Nomi Rose Ariel, Ilana Geffen Ariel, Pete Eugene Jr., Ashley Brook Webb Martinez, Daisy Webb, Walker Webb, Emilie Webb, Ryan Barber, Courtney Escalante, Alex Plaster, Luke Webb; great-grandchildren, Mylie Martinez, Mateo Martinez and Robin Plaster. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and a Celebration of Life ceremony to honor Jay will be held on Thursday, February 5 by Bonnie Jacoby Weisler and her family at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
