J.W. Williams

J.W. Williams, 74, of Brenham, died July 18, 2003, at a local nursing home. Mr. Williams was born April 29, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to Luther E. and Irma Williams. On May 11, 1963, he married Betty Heidemann in Brenham. Mr. Williams was a long-time employee of Mount Vernon Mills and retired from there in 1992. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham. Survivors include his wife, Betty Williams of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Jewel Stage of Sugar Land, Sherril and Patrick Piehl of Mansfield and Debbie and Eddie Martinez of Brenham; sons and daughter-in-law, Wesley Williams of Brenham and Leslie and Lisa Williams of Austin; sister, Lois Salter of Luling; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Laura Mae Slacik of Bleiblerville, Robert and Ellie Buntzel of Houston, Glenton and Hilda Heidemann of Fort Worth and Dennis and Kathy Heidemann of Georgetown; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, an infant sister, and his brother Vernon Williams of Navasota. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20 in Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham with Rev. Larry Embry officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Pallbearers will be Bobby Buntzel, Russell Salter, Donny Wensel, Leslie Williams, Matt Williams and Wesley Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
