Kate Elizabeth Muckleroy, 91, passed away May 14, 2012 at her residence in Brenham. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dale Chance officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A private burial has been scheduled . Elizabeth Muckleroy was born April 7, 1921 in Marshall, Texas to Wright and Zilpah McCall Pilcher. She was a graduate of Marshall High School. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Lance George Muckleroy in Longview, Texas and was a homemaker. A member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham, she was also a member of the United Methodist Women, and the Wesley Sunday School Class. Elizabeth also served as Docent of the Brenham Heritage Museum, and was a volunteer in the H.O.S.T.S. at Alton Elementary School. Playing bridge and "88" with her friends and gardening were favorite pastimes. Most of all, Elizabeth treasured time spent with her family. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Deborah Muckleroy of Brenham, daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Steve Vanghel of Houston; grandchildren: Adam Muckleroy, Sara Muckleroy, and Cody Vanghel. She was preceded in death by her husband Lance, her parents, Wright and Zilpah Pilcher; sisters Thelma Norman, Mary Banks, and Jewel Protto, and brothers, Ralph Lanier, Spurgeon Lanier, and Wright Pilcher, Jr. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Brenham, or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
