Katerina Makowsky

Katerina Anna "Katie" (Drevojanek) Makowsky, 90, passed away November 1, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Pat Lehrer officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Katerina "Katie" Drevojanek was born January 28, 1926 in Austin County to Wilhelm F. and Mathilda L. (Schaefer) Drevojanek. She was baptized April 4, 1926 at the Nelsonville Brethren Church, and confirmed March 14, 1940 at Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. On February 16, 1947, she was married to Wilbert Makowsky at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

Mrs. Makowsky enjoyed sharing her baked good with her family and friends. She was fondly known as the "Cookie Lady". Her way of sharing her love was with her cooking. She was a kitchen supervisor at nursing homes, as well as a homemaker. She took loving care of her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include sons Wilbert H. Makowsky of Shelby; Calvin E. Makowsky of New Ulm; and Kenneth H. Makowsky and wife Debra of Brenham; daughter, Karon K. Vaughn and husband James of Brenham; grandchildren: Jason L. Drevojanek and wife Melinda, Calvin E. Makowsky, Jr., and step grandchildren Tracie Perez, Hope Dallmeyer (Russell) and Joshua Vaughn (Katie); great-grandchildren: Presley Drevojanek, Madison, Makayla, Blake Makowsky; step-great-granchildren: Shelby Perez, Cassandra Holgwin, Bailey, Ty, and Braydon Dallmeyer, Madeline and Maya Vaughn, as well as three great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are sisters, Emma Schramm, and Mathilda Sommerlatte; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marvin and June Makowsky, and numerous nephews, nieces, and their spouses.
Mrs. Makowsky was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbert Makowsky; father-in-law and mother-in-law; brothers-in-law, Leroy Sommerlatte and Herbert Schramm, Sr., as well as one niece and one nephew.

Serving as pallbearers are Herbert Schramm, Jr., Delbert Schramm, Mike Sommerlatte, Byron Sommerlatte, Darwin Macat, Randy Wenckens, and Russell Dallmeyer.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.
