It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Keith W. Sharp, age 76, of Round Top, Texas, on February 24, 2025. Keith was born on May 16, 1948 in Waynesville, Missouri, the son of the late Frank W. Sharp and Opal M. Grussendorf . He grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma where he graduated with the Class of 1966. A talented trumpet player and proud member of the Duncan Demons High School Band, Keith was admired both for his academic achievements and his musical skills.
He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, earning his undergraduate degree, before continuing his studies at Texas Christian University, where he received his PH.D in Chemistry. Keith dedicated 43 years of his career to the oil industry, where he became a respected leader with great insight. Throughout his life, his passion for learning and discovery remained strong, and he was known for his sharp intellect, entrepreneurial spirit, and success in founding several companies. He was loved and respected by so many, and his dedication to mentoring was one of his most endearing traits. His legacy in both his professional achievements, personal integrity and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him.
His passion for music continued throughout his life as he was very active in choral music, sharing his talents in the choir and on the trumpet, and always enjoyed playing the piano. Keith was a very avid reader and would enjoy books that helped him unfold both intellectually and spiritually.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lou Ann Phillips, twin daughters Andrea Quintanilla and husband Rob, Angela Sharp and husband Sean Sutherland, all of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Betty Betts of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Janet Peters of Houston, Texas, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Logan Quintanilla, Sydney Sutherland, and Brooklyn Sutherland.
Keith's family was everything to him, and his love for them was evident in all he did. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were fortunate to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12th at 2 pm under the Live Oak trees at 399 East Mill, Round Top, Texas to honor his memory.
