Kenneth Lawrence Butts, 86, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at Brenham’s Church of Christ on Friday, October 29, 2021, starting at 11:00 am, with visitation in the hour prior to the service. Burial will be later that day, at 3:00pm at Salem Cemetery, FM 531, Ezzell TX near Kenneth’s hometown of Hallettsville.
Kenneth was born November 5, 1934 to Vol Dent Butts and Viola (Smith) Butts. He married his wife Janet (Mobley) Butts on October 26, 2002.
Kenneth spent 24 years with A&M University, working at the Physical Plant in the Engineering Department. He enjoyed reading Western books (especially Louie L’Amour), listening to Western music like Chet Atkins, traveling, and singing with The New Pioneers, woodworking and restoring old furniture that he picked up from the dumpster. Kenneth loved the Lord with his whole being, and enjoyed reading the Bible often.
Before Kenneth left this Earth he was blessed with the opportunity to have lunch with the new preacher of his church family, Tim Huffman.
One of Kenneth’s favorite sayings was, “I went to Texas A&M for 24 years and never graduated!”
Kenneth is survived by his wife Janet Butts; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Robert Van Dresar, Cindy and Lesley King, and Karen and Robert Winkler; grandchildren, Brittany Schubert and husband Leighton, Tyler Van Dresar, Morgan Van Dresar, Kristi Bellah and husband Chad, Michael King and wife Christian, Heather Huff and husband Kyle, Ashton Randermann and husband Andy, Zach Brittain and wife Tiffany, Stephanie King, and Justin King and wife Morgan; great-grandchildren, Declan Schubert, Porter Schubert, Max Barrera, Britton Bellah, Carson Bellah, Hagen Bellah, Hunter King, Jaxson King, Tyler King, Hudson King, Cooper King, Claire Huff, Haydon Huff, Jase Randermann, Jenna Kate Randermann, Hayden Brittain, and Ayra Brittain.
He is preceded in death by his parents Vol and Viola Butts; his first wife, Wanda Butts; son, Keith Butts; and seven brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers are Robert Van Dresar, Tyler Van Dresar, Lesley King, Justin King, Robert Winkler, Zach Brittain, Leighton Schubert, and Drew Johnson.
