Kenneth (Ken) Thomas Goedeke was prayed into Heaven with his family by his side on November 18, 2016 at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan, TX, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham, TX. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Brenham on Tuesday, November 22 at 11 am, with pastors Jon Stouffer and Kay Reed officiating. Interment will be at a future date.
Ken was born January 29, 1946, in Summit, New Jersey, to Henry and Doris Goedeke. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Joy (DeVaughan) Goedeke; his daughter, Cathy Pittenger and her husband, David, his son, Greg Goedeke and his wife, Lacy; three grandchildren, Kate and Jack Pittenger and Finley Goedeke; sister, Dar Marches, brother, Alan Goedeke, brother, Jon Goedeke and wife, Toni; sister-in-law, Mary Phillips, sister-in-law, Jeanne Donald and husband, Bob, brother-in-law, Charles DeVaughan; and many nephews and nieces.
Also, grieving his passing are his dear friends Glen and Judy Pendergrass who accompanied him and Joy on many adventures and were like a brother and sister to him.
Ken was a Senior Vice President for Texas Capital Bank, the final position that he held after a successful 45-year long career in banking from which he retired in 2015. He was highly respected in the banking community throughout his career for his leadership and knowledge. He and Joy moved to Washington County in 2014 and immediately made many good friends in the community. Ken was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham and was a man of faith, never doubting his Lord's will even as he went through his illness. Ken was a connoisseur of good food and thoroughly enjoyed traveling. He also loved to attend his grandchildren's events and was a great Pop Pop to them all.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility for their amazing care and Dr. Grace Joseph at Scott & White. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorials be made to Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility, 1600 Joseph Dr., Bryan, TX. 77803.
