Kenneth Helms

Kenneth Ray Helms, 78, of Burton, left his earthly home to live in his eternal home with Jesus Christ, his Savior, Saturday, February 8, 2014. Kenneth was born December 3, 1935 near Rotan, Tx. to Marion Josephine Robinson and Raymond Camel Helms. He was predeceased by his parents and an older brother, E. C. Helms. Surviving are his wife, Julia Lentz Helms; a daughter, Dr. Kim Smith, Houston, and a sister, Ruby Helms Sanders, of Liberty Hill, Tx. Also surviving are three stepchildren: Dr. Stephen A. Fletcher, Houston; Cheryl D. Fletcher, Burton and Stuart Clinton Fletcher of Las Cruces, N.M, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He worshipped and was an elder at Bethany Christian Church in Burton. Mr. Helms was an educator and coach in Irving, Tx. and San Angelo Lake View; an Associate Professor of Voc. Ed., Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Tx. and Vocational Director and Assistant Principal of Hereford Junior High in Hereford ISD. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bethany Christian Church in Burton. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E.
