Kenneth Dorsey Parker, Sr. died Saturday October 3, 2009 in Brenham, Texas. He was born September 8, 1943 in Abilene, Texas to Mary Catherine Demars and August Dorsey Parker, Jr. who both preceded him in death. His father, a 1st Lt. was killed in Normandy France on June 9, 1944. He was predeceased by grandparents, August Dorsey Parker, Sr. and Mary Louise Parker and Stuart Albert Demars and Martha Eddie Demars as well as Stepfather Luke T. Smith. Survivors include wife, Sara, 2 sons Kenneth Dorsey, Jr. and Scott Edward Parker and wife, Amy, daughter Jessica Catherine Hill and husband Shane Hill and one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy Smith and wife Susie Adams Smith and their two children Nancy and Stuart. Ken Parker graduated from Lamar High School in 1961, attended the University of Texas at Austin and was the owner of Central Texas Construction Company in Bren ham. He served the community in various capacities with the following organizations: St. Peter''s Episcopal Church, Faith Mission, Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a Master Mason with the Hubert Masonic Lodge - Chappell Hill, Washington Masonic Lodge – Washington, Gray Masonic Lodge – Houston; and the Brenham York Rite Bodies, Houston Scottish Rite, Arabia Shrine Temple. Burial will be held at Glenwood-Washington Cemetery in Houston at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9th, 2009 with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at St. Peter''s Episcopal Church in Brenham. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Masonic rites will be observed at the burial in Houston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to Ken Parker be made to St. Peter''s Episcopal Church, Faith Mission, or another charity organization of your choice.
