Kent Reed Van Eman, 50, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in San Antonio. Born in Wichita, Kansas on March 11, 1959 to James Brown and Patricia JoAnn Reed Van Eman, he was a former City Manager for the City of Brenham, and held various other positions with enthusiasm. At the time of his death, he was employed as a project manager in the commercial construction industry in San Antonio. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was well-known for his sharp wit and sense of humor. Survivors include his mother, Pat Van Eman of Brenham; son, Steven Van Eman of Brenham; daughter Lauren Van Eman Alfred and husband Kurt of Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, James Jimmy Van Eman, and two brothers, James Patrick Ricky Van Eman and Michael Douglas Van Eman. A memorial service for Kent Reed Van Eman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pastor Matthew Jacobs will officiate. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Craig Kankel, Daniel Kolkhorst, Kevin Lehmann, Hollis Lehrmann, Doug Maurer, Michael Schroeder, Mark Van Eman, and Tom Dee Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Bentke, Marcus Kettler, Michael Meyer, and Arlen Thielemann. Memorials may be directed to Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library or to a charity of your choice.
