L Dee Homeyer Hinze, 97, widow of Elfon Hinze, died March 4, 2015 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Pastor Denise Seymour officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Foehner Funeral Home. She will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham until 3 p.m. Thursday. L Dee was born August 10, 1917 in Burton to Henry and Lillie Wilkening Homeyer. She was baptized September 23, 1917 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg by Pastor H. Weber, and confirmed there March 29, 1931 by Pastor C. A. Lehne. On October 23, 1949, L Dee was married to Elfon C. Hinze, whom she met while working at Max Zuehlke''s Café. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage, working on the family farm. L Dee loved gardening and canning fruits and vegetables from her garden, sharing them with friends and neighbors. L Dee was a kind and selfless person, always willing to help others who were experiencing difficult times by preparing food and offering to assist with sewing needs. A talented seamstress, she sewed wedding and bridesmaid dresses for many years. She was a bread maker for communion at her church for many years, and her Angel Food Cakes were favorites at area nursing home birthday parties. After she became a shut-in, L Dee enjoyed telephone conversations from friends and family, and playing dominoes and visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memberships included the Burton American Legion Auxiliary, Burton Fireman''s Auxiliary, and St. Paul''s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Glenwood and Jane Hinze of Burton; grandchildren Brian and Kristi Hinze, and Julie and Wade Tiemann; great-grandchildren: Waylon Hinze, Weston Hinze, McKenzie Tiemann, and Ali Tiemann; sister-in-law LeVerne Hinze of Brenham; niece, Nancy Eilers and husband Wade; nephew Robert Hinze and wife Joyce, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elfon Hinze; her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, brother-in-law and her grandparents. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Hodde, Charles Harmel, Ricky Kieke, Darrell Kieke, Wade Eilers, Robert Hinze, Kenneth Ladewig, and Al Duane Kunkel. Honorary pallbearers are Olin Ashorn, John Ragsdale, Wilbert Meier, Jimmy Limmer, Steve Sumner, Bobby Bredthauer, Glen Prenzler, Ricky Fischer, Marcus Broesche, and the staff of Brenham Nursing and Rehab Center. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, or to Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements for L Dee Hinze are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home of Burton.
