Lanell Seeker

LaNell Jurries Seeker, 75, passed away July 6, 2018 in College Station.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastor Sue Beall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

LaNell Seeker was born Feb. 8, 1943 in Brenham to Alvin and Ora Nell Wickel Jurries. She was baptized April 4, 1943 by Rev. Roy Grote in Greenvine, and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. She attended Grace Lutheran School, and was a graduate of Brenham High School, as well as Blinn College, with an Associate of Arts degree.

On June 14, 1964, LaNell married the love of her life, Edwin “Butch” Seeker, Jr. She was employed at the Brenham Livestock Auction, and as a teacher’s aide at Brenham High School.

A member of St. John Lutheran Church, she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Mary Martha Circle, Altar guild, as well as Sunday School superintend and teacher. She was a member of the church council, and also served as the youth choir director.

LaNell served her community by organizing the Sandy Hill 4-H Club, where she was an adult leader. She was also a member of the Texas Extension Education Association.

She treasured time spent with her family, and especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Edwin “Butch” Seeker, Jr.; sons Russell Seeker and wife Tina; Troy Seeker; grandchildren: Colby Seeker and wife Mariah; Emily Seeker, and Hunter Seeker; sister-in-law, Emma Jean Seeker; sister and brother-in-law Gayle and Arno Jahnke; brother and sister-in-law Wade “Bubba” and Laura Jurries, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

LaNell was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Ora Nell Jurries, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin Sr. and Emma Seeker.

Serving as pallbearers are Lance Jahnke, Jason Hueske, John Mabie, Barnay Glaesmann, Kenneth Seeker, Shawn King, Logan Shelton, Gerald Wehring, and James Antkowiak.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Colby and Mariah Seeker, Emily Seeker, and Hunter Seeker.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
