Larry Boykin

Larry Lee Boykin, 82, of Brenham, TX, died on July 3, 2020 in Brenham, TX.

A visitation will be held at 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Masonic Cemetery in Chappell, TX with Dr. Brent Hampton officiating.

Mr. Boykin was born in Portales, NM on February 1, 1938 to Bolly and Viola Pauline (Salee) Boykin. Larry married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Bullock) Boykin on June 29, 1985. They were married at Spring Branch Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas. He served his country through the U.S. Navy.

After the Navy, Larry spent his career in electronics. He worked in the coin-operated vending machine industry for many years in both Corpus Christi and in Houston. Following his career in vending, he went to work for the City of Houston at Houston Intercontinental Airport working in their electronics department.

Mr. Boykin was a member of Brenham Presbyterian Church, a life member of Masonic Lodge of which he was a member of the Graham Lodge 20 A.F. and A.M. He was a Past Worship Master of Huebert Lodge 67 A.F. and A.M. He was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Larry loved to watch T.V. His favorite was watching movies and football. He enjoyed spending time on his computer connecting with family and friends on social media and when his health was good, he loved raising corgies.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Boykin of Brenham, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Boykin and his wife Felicia of Brenham, TX and Larry Michael Boykin and wife Shawnee of Houston, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Hunt and husband Ray of Houston, TX and Michelle Schlottmann and husband Don of Burton, TX; sister, Linda Davis of Portales, NM; grandchildren, Tyler Boykin, Matthew Tankersley and wife Leigha, Austin Schlottmann, Sarah Boykin, Mikayla Boykin, and Trace Hunt.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bolly and Viola Boykin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Austin Schlottmann, Tyler Boykin, Matthew Tankersley, and Trace Hunt.

Memorial may be directed to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers from Home Instead and Amedisys Hospice for their loving devotion and care.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
