Larry Ray Higgins, 58, of Brenham, died Oct. 28, 2003, in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mr. Higgins was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Houston, to William F. and Jessierae Southard Higgins. He was baptized April 10, 1955 in First Methodist Church in Lockhart and was confirmed May 15, 1966 in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Higgins was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Salem and was employed at Brenham Wholesale. He loved going on trail rides and especially his horse. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Robin Higgins of Kenney; brother, Ronald Higgins of Georgetown; sister, Elaine and Eldor Brade of Fedor; four grandchildren, Jim Higgins, Blake Higgins, Rusty Higgins and Jeff Higgins; and special friend, JoAnne Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Craig Higgins; and his brother, Kenny Higgins. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 in Salem Lutheran Church in Salem with Pastor Bill Derrick and Pastor Mike Widner officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery at Welcome. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Glen Neutzler, Jimmy Dreyer, Tim Murski, Keith Krause, Matt Pieper and Charlie Hagemann. Honorary pallbearer will be Perry Thomas. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem or to the Wilford Peschel Benefit Trail Ride Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
