Larry Klehm

Larry Wayne Klehm, also known as Spider Man, went to rest on September 30, 2016.
He was born on July 26, 1946, to Ora Nell (Ludwig) Klehm and Willie Fredrick Klehm of Brenham, Texas. Larry was baptized and confirmed at the St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.
Larry helped his father on the farm, then went to work at the Central Prison Unit in Sugar Land, Texas. He was drafted by the U.S. Army.
While in the Army he met Karen Grace Keller of Louisville, Kentucky. They were married at Fort Huachuca in Sara Vista, Arizona on October 21, 1972. On February 13, 1974, they welcomed their first son, Jesse Allan Klehm, into the world in Stuttgart, Germany. Larry and Karen were honorably discharged from the Army in August 1976 after 10 years of service.
They returned to Brenham, where Larry was hired on by the Brenham Police Department December 6, 1976. On August 3, 1982, they welcomed their second son, Seth Fred Klehm, into the world in Brenham, Texas. Larry served with the Brenham Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Department for 24 years. Larry retired from the Brenham Police Department on July 31, 2000.
In Larry's professional career as a peace officer, he had a passion for protecting and serving his community, especially working narcotic cases. He worked undercover all over the state of Texas. He was better known as the leader of the six drug operations, known as BAD (Brenham Against Drugs). Larry was the task force commander of the Independence Narcotic Task Force, which was instrumental in filing several thousand drug cases.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karen; his two sons, Jesse Klehm and Seth Klehm and wife, Amanda, all of Brenham; two grandchildren, Aiden and Tinley Klehm; mother-in-law, Sue Ann Keller of Peewee Valley, Kentucky; brothers-in-law, Glenn Lampe of Brenham, Brian Keller and wife Val, Dane Keller, Mark Keller, Kevin Keller and wife Kim, and Greg Smith; sisters-in-law, Tina Poulson and her husband Don, all of Louisville, Kentucky; and various nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Klehm; sister, Linda Kay Klehm Lampe; sister-in-law, Bridget Smith; and his adopted daughter, Stephanie Lynn Klehm Haga.
Pallbearers: David Mohr, Ronnie Ross, Al Gomez, Albert Garcia, Billy Rich and Dominic Demasi. Honorary pallbearers: Ronnie Klehm, Glen Klehm, Ray Davis, Rey Torrez, Glenn Lampe, Curtis Martin, Justin Klehm, Johnnie Jezierski, Lonnie Tegeler, Edmund Grahmann, members of Wehmeyer Farms , and the past and present members of the Brenham Police Department.
Services for Larry Wayne Klehm will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Memorials can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg.
