Lauren Ashley Rupe, 30, of Houston, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at her residence after a courageous fight against brain cancer.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor Jill Vivroux and Pastor Blair Lundborg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Lauren was born Oct. 28, 1986, in Brenham, TX, to Craig and Kathy (Krinke) Blum. She was baptized Dec. 28, 1986 and confirmed June 10, 2001, both at Zion Lutheran Church. In 2005, she graduated with honors from Brenham High School, where she was a proud member of the BHS Cub Band. She graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University with the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2009. After attending Fish Camp, she continued participating each year, first as a counselor and finally a co-chair. She also enjoyed playing her trumpet at basketball and volleyball games with the Hullabaloo Band.
Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at Cimarron Elementary School in Katy ISD. She loved teaching math and science to her fifth grade students.
On April 30, 2016, she married Zachary Michael Rupe in Round Top, TX. Other interests include traveling, camping, cycling and training for the MS150.
Survivors include her husband, Zachary Rupe of Houston; parents, Craig and Kathy Blum of Brenham; sister, Audrey Blum and special friend Cole Masters of Houston; grandparents, Weldon and Marjorie Krinke and Fred and Bernadine Blum, all of Brenham; aunts and uncles, Gary and Sherry Krinke and Beverly and Dennis Roehling, all of Brenham; cousins, Donald Roehling of Industry, Beth and Brad Eckelhoff of Cypress, Cole Roehling and Isabel and Ethan Eckelhoff; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Peg Rupe of Spring; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sarah and Blake Pierce of Spring; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her aunt, Linda Krinke Scott.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Robinson, Ryan Sumner, Michael Schwartz, Rickey Gaskamp, Ronnie Hohlt, Alan Kuehn, David Blum, Larry Blum and Jerry Merten.
