LaVerda Neinast Ebel, 78, of the Longpoint Community, and the widow of Claude D. Ebel, died Saturday at the Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Ebel was born November 15, 1926, in the Longpoint Community of Washington County, Texas, to Edwin H. and Lenora Wilkening Neinast. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Mrs Ebel was a graduate of Somerville High School and Durham Business College. On June 20, 1948, she was married to Claude D. Ebel in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg by Reverend Arthur R. Wolber. Mrs. Ebel retired as the Secretary to the Director of the Internal Revenue Service in Houston. She was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Her favorite recreational activity was bowling. Survivors include her sister, Elois Glover of the Longpoint Community; nephew and niece, Jimmy & Peggy Glover of League City, TX; great nephew and niece, Michael Glover & Melissa Glover of League City, TX; and a great-great niece, Madelyn Glover of League City, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, Carolyn Neinast; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence & Ruth Neinast and brother-in-law, James Glover. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service for LaVerda Ebel will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Pastor Larry Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Glover, Kenneth Ladewig, H. L. Neinast, H. R. Neinast, Irvin Rosenbaum and Walker Bubba Scott. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg or to your favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham.
