LaVern Reuter

LaVern Schulz Reuter, 90 of Brenham, Texas passed away on January 9, 2025, at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. LaVern was born on June 10, 1934, to Eddie and Jessie Hickman Schulz of Burton, Texas. She attended Burton schools. Clarence and LaVern were married on November 21,1953 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Burton, Texas. Clarence and LaVern were blessed with two beautiful children, Susan Ann Bilski and the late Russell Reuter.

LaVern was employed at Blue Bell Creameries Snack Plant for 30 years. She loved going to work early every morning with her wonderful sister, Floya Ann Merten. "The sisters" had a very special sisterly bond and did everything together. The bond between them both was very special. Upon retirement from Blue Bell Creameries, you could find LaVern cruising the streets as driving was her passion. LaVern also enjoyed a good game of chicken foot with her beloved friends, Wilma Boeker, Alice Dannhaus and Jean (Mutzy) Schulle.

LaVern was a loving wife, mother, sister and wonderful grandmother to Nick, Jenny, Justin, Tara, and special great-granddaughters Blair and Jessie.

LaVern was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, her husband, Clarence Reuter; her son, Russell Reuter; and brother-in-law, Harvey Merten.

LaVern is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susie and John Bilski; her grandchildren, Nick Bilski and fiancé Erica Hinson of Dallas, Jenny and husband Brent Folsom of College Station; Justin Reuter of Brenham and Tara Reuter of Brenham; great-granddaughters, Blair Bilski and Jessie Folsom; sister, Floya Ann Merten of Brenham; sister-in-law, Corine Reuter Schulz of Fredericksburg and dear friends, Wilma Boeker, Alice Dannhaus and Jean (Mutzy) Schulle.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Chapel, located at 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833. The family will be present to receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 305 West Third Street, Brenham, TX 77833. Memorials may be given in her honor to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brazos Valley Hospice or Traditions Hospice.

Pallbearers include Nick Bilski, Brent Folsom, Justin Reuter, Darrell Plagens, Jerry Merten, Eric Plagens, Kyle Merten and Terry Hartcraft.
