Laverne Albers

LaVerne Eckert Albers, 81, widow of Milton A. Albers, died October 8, 2009 in Monument Hill Rehab and Nursing Center in La Grange. Born in Walhalla, Texas on March 18, 1928 to Ernest and Elise Renck Eckert, she was baptized May 13, 1928 in the home of her parents by Rev. H. Brunotte. On October 6, 1940, she was confirmed in the Waldeck Lutheran Church, also by Rev. Brunotte. On December 1, 1946, she was married to Milton A. Albers in the home of her parents by Rev. Leo Simon. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the Albers Butane Service in Carmine, and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Survivors include a son, Charles Albers and wife, Susan of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and daughter Dianna Gerland and husband Dennis of Carmine; five grandchildren: Dawn Gerland, Dana Smith and husband Dennis, Devin Gerland and wife Makala, Ashley Albers, and Lesley Darrah and husband Bruce, and two great-grandchildren: Ryan and Megan Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers: Clarence, Lorenz, and Herbert; three sisters, Lorena, Ora Lee and Leona. Funeral services for LaVerne Albers will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, with Pastor Stephen Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmine Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
