Funeral services for LaVerne L. Ross of Brenham, widow of Roland R. "Bunk" Ross, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, with Pastor Robert Sorenson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mrs. Ross passed away December 11, 2012 at Kruse Memorial Village. Born December 10, 1929 in Burton to Alex and Malinde Oevermann Heins, LaVerne was baptized in St. John''s Church in Burton and later confirmed in Houston. She attended Reagan High School in Houston, and on Oct. 9, 1947, she married Roland Ross in Houston. As a young woman, LaVerne was employed as a dental technician, and later took loving care of her family as a wife and mother. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. Survivors include her grandson, Kelly Ross; great-grandchildren Ashley, Jacob, and Andrew; niece, Rhonda Bisby, and a brother, Louis Heins. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Roland "Bunk" Ross, a son, Rick Ross, a daughter, Rosalind Ross and her sister, Deloris Jewell. Serving as pallbearers are Tom Branch, Chance Brown, Phil Duncan, and Joseph Guido. Funeral arrangements for LaVerne L. Ross are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
