Lavohn Harland Smith, 87, of Brenham, widower of Agnes Marie Wycoff Smith, died January 15, 2009 in Trinity Care Center. Mr. Smith was born July 28, 1921 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Norman Drebon and Evie Bertha Alders Smith. On December 10, 1944 he married Agnes Marie Wycoff. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Smith was employed by Southwest Bell Telephone Co. as a technician, and later by the Industry Telephone Co. for 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Marie Owen of New Braunfels; two grandchildren, Clay Zientek and Emily Wilkins; six great-grandchildren; brother Kenneth Colven Smith, and a sister, Avolois Thurman Crain. Preceding him in death was his wife, Agnes Marie Smith, a granddaughter, Darlene Zientek, and a sister-in-law, Josephine Smith. Graveside services for Lavohn Harland Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 at Prairie Lea Cemetery with Rev. Dean Meade officiating. Masonic graveside services will be held under the auspices of Grand Lodge No. 20 AF and AM. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Care Center. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
