Lawrence Henry Goldberg, 85, of Burton, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Goldberg was born April 16, 1919, in Rehburg, Texas, to Herman Christian and Nelda Sonnenberg Goldberg. He was educated in Eberhardt and Rehburg schools. On Sept. 29, 1940, he married Alleen Jacob. She preceded him in death in June, 1981. On Oct. 24, 1985, he married Madeline Merten Wittneben. Survivors include his wife, Madeline Goldberg of Burton; daughters and son-in-law, Peggy and Murray Kieke of New Jersey, Candy Weigelt of Burton and Kitty Crane of Long Point; brother, Harry Goldberg of Ledbetter; sisters, Elnora Stanley of Ledbetter and Ruth McClellan of Rosenberg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son; a grandchild; a brother, Leroy Goldberg; and his parents. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 in Foehner Funeral Home Chapel in Burton with Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in La Bahia Cemetery near Burton. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Stanley, Nicholas Goldberg, Gerald Thompson, Marcus Broesche and Wyatt Matthies. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
