LeeRoy Robert Winkelmann, 87, of Bellville, died Jan. 21, 2021, in Katy.

The family asks that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced at visitation and the service.

Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The family will be present from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25 at St. James Lutheran Church at New Wehdem with Pastor Evan Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Winkelmann was born Jan. 31, 1933, in the Germania community of Austin County, to Willie C. and Sophie (Tiemann) Winkelmann. Mr. Winkelmann attended school at Germania and later at Kenney.

On April 25, 1954, he was married to Delores Ann Dippel at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. He was a life member of St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, where he served on the church council and served as president of the Brotherhood. He also served on the ASCS board, was president of Kenney Agricultural Association and was a member of St. James New Wehdem shooting club.

Mr. Winkelmann was employed by Craddock Hatchery, Wharton and Brenham Livestock auctions, Port City Stockyards, 4 County Auction and Austin County Farmer’s Mutual. He was also a self-employed rancher.

Mr. Winkelmann enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially when cards or dominoes were involved.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Becky Winkelmann of Bellville; daughters and son-in-law, Pam and James Herrmann of Bellville and Patricia Winkelmann of La Grange; grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Josh Tysar, Sara and J.P. Provence, Wesley and Erica Winkelmann, Tyler and Morgan Winkelmann, Nichole Herrmann and fiancé Cody DuVall, and Braeden Herrmann; great-grandchildren, Greyson Winkelmann, Beckett Winkelmann, Crawford Winkelmann and Dakota Provence; and sister and brother-in-law, Erline and Ernest Wellmann.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Winkelmann; daughter, Barbara Baranowski; parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reinhard and Myrtle Winkelmann; Henry and Anita Bender, Willie and Alita Winkelmann, Bill and Ida Schwartz, Raymond and Louise Winkelmann, Wilbert and Laverna Winkelmann, Freddie and Esther Dahmann, June and Odell Winkelmann, Arlene Winkelmann, Billy and Gertrude Schwartz, Allen Bender and Brad Bender.

His nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.
