Lennis Koehn Wittner, 91, of Brenham, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2008 at Trinity Care Center in Brenham, Texas. Lennis was born September 6, 1916 in the New Wehdem Community, Austin County, Texas. Her parents were Fritz Koehn and Melissa Ringener Koehn. Lennis was baptized on December 15, 1916 at St.James Lutheran, New Wehdem, by Reverend H. Poehlmann. She was confirmed by Reverend M. C. Hoermann at St. James on March 29, 1931. She received her education in public school in the New Wehdem Community. On December 31, 1936, she married Burney B.J. Wittner at St. Paul''s Lutheran, Brenham. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1997. She was an active member of St. Paul''s Lutheran, and the Wednesday Afternoon Circle for many years. Lennis was a homemaker who loved quilting, needlework and gardening. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Carolyn Wittner of Brenham, sister-in-law Ella Mae Koehn of Temple, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Elsie Remmert, brothers Willie and Herbert Beerwinkel, and Henry, Johnny, and Raymond Koehn. Funeral services for Lennis Wittner will be held Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jerry Koehn, Raymond Earl Koehn, Herbert Beerwinkel, Lloyd Quebe, Ralph Becker, and James Henkhaus. Memorials may be given to St. Paul''s Christian Day School of Brenham, or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
