Lenora Irene Turner Wood, 66, of Brenham was called by our Heavenly Father Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at her home after a long battle with cancer. Lenora was born in Chamal, Mexico on January 9, 1938, the daughter of Levere and Vesta Taylor Turner. She moved to San Antonio at age 3 where she graduated from Burbank High School in 1956. She has been a resident of Brenham between 1974-1989 and 2000-2004. She also resided in Austin, San Antonio and San Angelo. She worked as a secretary most of her life, including nine years as secretary to the administrator of St. Jude Hospital in Brenham. Lenora enjoyed people and had many good friends. She enjoyed life and loved to laugh. She liked sports, especially baseball and football and enjoyed watching/attending Texas Longhorn games with her husband. She adored her husband, her children, and her 10 grandchildren and was very proud of them. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Wood of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Peggy Wood of Sugar Land; son, John Wood of Cypress; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Donnie Beasley of Mission; grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Wood, Jason, Erika and Madison Wood, and Ally, Marlee, Brianna, Sam and Tommy Beasley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Rosemary Turner of San Antonio and Melford and Regina Turner of Pine Top, Arizona; brother-in-law, Tom Good of San Antonio; her aunt, Mary Newcomb Dolge of San Antonio, who was very special to her, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18 at the Brenham Presbyterian Church.
