Leola Louise Hulda Hinze Althaus, 95, of Burton, passed away March 7, 2012 in Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top, with Pastor John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will take place in La Bahia Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Leola Althaus was born Sept. 16, 1916 in Round Top to Gustav Fritz and Alma Ann Elsie Krause Hinze. She was baptized March 11, 1917 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, where she was confirmed on April 13, 1930. In this same church, on December 9, 1934, she married Ernst Althaus, who preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1980. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Delores and Clyde Muske of Houston; Dorothy and Robert Marwitz of Holland, Tx., and Sharon and James Chapman III of Burton; daughter-in-law Nancy Finke Althaus of Round Top; grandchildren: Carolyn and Mitchell Hall, Diann and Rodney Goebel, Cindy and Bruce Kettler, Gary and Krystal Muske, Bruce and Shelia Muske, Donna and Arman Prescott, Sheryl and Kirk Goodnight, Katrina and Bruce Pritchard, Jason and Jill Marwitz, Lorenz and Vicki Tiedt, Karl Tiedt, Jordan Chapman, and Marc Chapman; great-grandchildren: Alex, Lauren, and Amber Prescott, Nicholette and Shane Capelletti, Haley and Andy Glueck, Chelslea Kettler and J. T. Gaskamp, Russell Hall, Reece Goebel, Ryan Kettler, Shelby Muske, Mandy Muske, Brandon Muske, Samuel Goodnight, Erin Goodnight, Jay Brook Pritchard, Erica Pritchard; Ryan Marwitz, and Austen Marwitz; great-great grandchild, Logan Glueck; sisters Wella Mae Hinze Behnke of Round Top, and Verlie Hinze Wegner of Burton. Preceding her in death were her parents, Gustav and Alma Hinze; husband Ernst Althaus; son, E. G. Althaus, son-in-law Everett Tiedt, brothers Weyland Hinze, Elmo Hinze, and Delphine Hinze; sisters-in-law Rosalee Hinze, Annie Hinze and Myrtle Hinze; nephews Paul Wegner and Joseph Wegner, and nieces, Jane Felder and Marilyn Hinze. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons: Gary and Bruce Muske, Jason Marwitz, Lorenz and Karl Tiedt, and Jordan and Marc Chapman. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Carolyn Hall, Diann Goebel, Cindy Kettler, Donna Prescott, Sheryl Goodnight, and Katrina Pritchard. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top. Funeral arrangements for Leola Hinze Althaus are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
