Leon J. Grahmann, 74, of Brenham and the husband of Leona Gurka Grahmann, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Hallettsville, Texas. Mr. Grahmann was born June 11, 1930, in Hallettsville, Texas, to John and Laura Rothbauer Grahmann. He attended the Sacred Heart School in Hallettsville. On February 10, 1965, he married Leona Gurka in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston. He served four years in the US Air Force, stationed in Germany and was a barber in Brenham for many years until his retirement. He also served as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Grahmann was a member of St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7104, Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion in Brenham, Knights of Columbus Council 3287 and the Brenham Sons of Hermann Lodge. He was an avid bingo player and bingo caller. Survivors include his wife: Leona Gurka Grahmann of Brenham; brothers: Johnny Grahmann, of Hallettsville, TX; Thomas Grahmann of Hallettsville, TX; Leroy Grahmann of Victoria, TX; Edwin Grahmann of Victoria, TX; Richard Grahmann of Hallettsville, TX; sisters: Loretta Hardcastle of Hallettsville, TX; Kathryn Darilek and Rose Mary Mikush of Victoria, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Dorothy Henneke and Margaret Fojt; infant brother: Emmanuel Grahmann and brother: Anthony Grahmann. The funeral mass for Leon J. Grahmann will be offered at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in St. Mary s Catholic Church with Fr. David Ivey and Msgr Benedict Zientek, celebrants. Interment will be in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 P.M. to7:00 P.M. Tuesday in Memorial Oaks Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Pallbearers will be: Anthony J. Grahmann, Jr., Johnny Grahmann, Jr., Randy Fojt, Tommy Grahmann, Jr., Edwin Grahmann, Jr. and Chris Grahmann. All nieces and nephews will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham, Hospice of Hallettsville or the Sacred Heart School of Hallettsville. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833.
