Leona Hensen Schaefer, widow of Edmund Schaefer, died April 7, 2012 in Brenham Rest Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Brenham with Msgr. Benedict Zientek, Officiant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Leona Schaefer was born September 7, 1920 in Washington County to David W. and Annie Mary Flisowski Hensen. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary''s Catholic Church and later married Edmund Schaefer there on June 2, 1946. Survivors include her son, Jerry L. Schaefer of Brenham; grandchildren: Leah and Todd Calder and Leslie and Jeff Kurtz, great-grandchildren: Jordan Schaefer, Madeline Brook Calder, Carson Calder, Kyle and Hope Kurtz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leroy Schaefer, Verna Mae Sefcik, Adolph Schaefer, Jr., Edgar Schaefer and Elsie Horak. Other surviving relatives include Mildred Breedlove, Terry Campbell, Jeanette Long, Carl and Sondra Harborth, Sharon Dobbins, Brandon and Cherie Warden, and Bill and Betty Schaefer. Preceding her in death was her husband, Edmund Schaefer, and her parents, David and Annie Hensen. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Mueller, David Majewski, Gary Stelter, Billy Schaefer, Leonard Bilski, and Mike Meadows. Memorials may be directed to any favorite charity.
