Leonita Kramer

Leonita Elizabeth Kramer, 87, of Brenham, died Feb. 19, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Kramer was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Damon, Texas, to Leo and Lina Bartram Hartfield. She was baptized May 23, 1920, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Needville by Rev. Karl Merkel and was confirmed Sept. 16, 1934, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Warrenton by Rev. J. Bosshard. Mrs. Kramer attended La Grange School. On Sept. 5, 1942, she was married to Marvin William Kramer in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Rev. W.C. Poehlmann. She was a member of Grace Lutheran church of Brenham and the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Kramer worked at Schulz Bakery and Wag A Bag and was the bookkeeper for her husband s brick mason business. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Jo and JoAnn Kramer of Houston; grandchildren, JoLynn and Steve Smolko of Cypress, Kimberly and Heath Harrington of Missouri City and Sara Kramer and special friend Tom Stewart of Austin; great-grandchildren, Chace Callahan, Zackary Smolko, Lance Smolko and Katharine Harrington; sisters and brother-in-law, Leatrice Scholtz of La Grange and Loretta and Edgar Leonhardt of Red Rock; sisters-in-law, Joyce Basham of Houston and Johnnie Kramer of Center; a very special niece, Cookie Grimm; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kramer, on April 11, 1987; her parents; sister, Lorena Merkel; and brothers, Lester Hartfield and Lawrence Hartfield. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Gary Merkel, Harry Grimm, Glenn Meschewitz, Wayne Scholtz, Kenneth Leonhardt, Bruce Leonhardt, Chris Kramer, Craig Kramer, Tom Kramer, Larry Basham, Charlie Muegge and Tim Kramer. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham.
