Leopoldo Perez

Leopoldo Perez passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024. He was born June 8, 1978 to his parents, Eustorgio and Rufina Perez in Santa Maria Del Rio, San Luis Potosi Mexico. He was one of eight children born to his parents. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jose Manuel Martinez; grandparents, Vicente Perez and Maria Mendez, Francisco Turrubiartes and San Juana Martinez.


Leopoldo is survived by his parents; two daughters, Katelyn and Avery Perez; sisters, Virginia Vega, Elvia Martinez and Monica Perez; brothers, Eustorgio Perez, David Perez and Antonio Perez as well as many nieces and nephews.


Leopoldo was a member of the Catholic Church. While growing up in California, he was on the wrestling team in High School and was honorary captain. He was the third most winningest wrestler in San Diego history. After High School, he continued with his love of wrestling at the Palomar Junior College where he was an All American. From Palomar, he went on to wrestle in Division One for CSU in Bakerfield, Ca. He was known, to this day as holding the record for most "take downs" in San Diego history. He was known to be very disciplined, determined, charming, and strong.


Pallbearers will be Raymundo Rodriguez, David Vega, Eustorgio Perez, David Perez, Victor Jaime, Antonio Perez, Alfonso Perez and Jason Bedsole.


Visitation with family will be on Saturday, May 4th from 3-7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Rosary scheduled on Sunday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6th at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
