LeRoy Emuel Happner, 84, of Brenham, widower of Audrey Happner, died April 11, 2009 in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Happner was born July 14, 1924, in DeLeon, Texas to Ed and Georgia Karm Happner. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Audrey Vanoudkerke in Austin, Texas, and was a retired plumber. For 29 years, he has dedicated his life to taking care of his grandson Michael. Michael will miss him dearly. Survivors include sons and daughters LeRoy Jr. and Helen Happner of Colorado, and Claude and Inez Weishuhn of Dayton, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Faye and Milton Lorenz of Brenham and Helen and Tony Hoebing of Oklahoma; grandchildren Michael Krolczyk of Brenham; Melissa and Marty Schulz of Hempstead, and Becky and Scott Ballard of Brenham; great-grandchildren: Lauren Guerra, Madison Schulz, Lyndsey Ballard and Logan Ballard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Happner as well as by his parents. Funeral services for LeRoy Emuel Happner will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Ray Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Troy Hanath, Marty Schulz, Claude Weishuhn, Scott Ballard, James Schultz, Dexter Grayson, and Michael Krolczyk.
