Leroy Martin Kamas, 86, of the Wesley community, died Oct. 6, 2020, in Brenham.
Visitation will be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Wesley Brethren Church Cemetery with Pastor Michael Groseclose officiating.
Mr. Kamas was born June 4, 1934, to Milady (Pomykal) and Steve Kamas at Wesley. He was baptized in 1934 by Rev. Anton Matycka at Wesley Brethren Church and was confirmed Dec. 5, 1948 by Rev. Henry E. Beseda Sr. at the same church. Mr. Kamas was a lifelong member of Wesley Brethren Church, where he taught Sunday School and confirmation and held various positions on the board of elders. For many years, he served as secretary treasurer of the Wesley Cemetery Fund.
He was educated at Wesley School, Brenham High School and Blinn College and later served for 7 ½ years in the Army Reserves.
Survivors include his brother, Eugene Kamas and wife Mary Lou of Robinson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Kamas of Brenham; nieces, Nadine (Kamas) Anderson and husband Jeffrey of Florida, Kim Baldwin of Texas City, Karen (Kamas) Sanchez of Robinson; nephews, David Baldwin and wife Vickie of Texas City and Keith Kamas and wife Mary of Franklin; 10 grandnieces and grandnephews; and numerous relatives and friends.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, Milady and Steve Kamas; brother, Ladislav “Lad” Kamas; sister, Vlasta Baldwin; brother-in-law, Roland Baldwin; and nephew Gene Baldwin.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be given to Wesley Brethren Church or Wesley Cemetery Fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, TX, 979-836-4564.
