Lewis Reed

January 17, 1959 — October 26, 2024

Brenham

Lewis Michael "Mike" Reed of Somerville, Texas passed away at the age of 65 on October 26, 2024, after a life filled with love and laughter. Mike was born on January 17, 1959, in Lampasas, Texas to David Burl and Allie Mae (Belcher) Reed. He was the youngest of six children. After high school, Mike moved to Houston where he became a pipe fitter and welder for oil and gas production equipment and met his future wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Boyd Reed. On September 23, 1978, in Industry, Mike married the love of his life.

Mike and Liz continued to live in Houston where they had their daughters, Kelly Michelle and Lauren Renee. They moved to Dayton briefly and then settled in Austin County for about thirty years before moving to a place on Lake Somerville where they planned to retire. Mike became a very proud grandpa when Brittney Elaine was born and then again when Emma Rose was born the following year.

When Mike was not working, he loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. As the youngest of six Mike was surrounded by many nieces and nephews in addition to his daughters, sons-in-law, and granddaughters. Mike was a quiet man but always quick with a joke or a good story. He also never met a stranger. He loved to talk about his granddaughters as well as his most recent fishing trip or hunting trip. He was also a religious man and a member of Industry Methodist Church in Industry.

Mike is survived by his wife, Liz Reed, of Somerville; his daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Jeff Hajek of Brenham; his daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Terence Vierling of New York; his granddaughters Brittney Hajek and Emma Vierling; his brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Carolyn Reed of Holliday; his brother and sister-in-law Timothy and Bonnie Reed of Ingram; sister and brother-in-law Jo and Sandy Blakley of Izoro; sister Sherri Reed of Rockdale; sister Nancy Griffin of Lampasas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Burl and Allie Reed and his brother-in-law Daniel Griffin.
