Lillian Schroeder Wellmann, age 86 of Washington, Texas, died on May 24, 2015 at her home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC, with Rev. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Milton Schroeder, William Schroeder, Stephen Schroeder, Ricky Schroeder, Darryl Shimshack, and Terry Lunsford. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Cody Wellmann, Jon Wellmann, Todd Wellmann, Mark Diorio, Bob Taylor, Mike Serres, and Charles William Wellmann. Lillian was born June 19, 1928 in Anderson to Fritz and Minnie Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Anderson, Texas and attended school in Anderson. On October 17, 1953 she married Fritz William Wellmann Jr. in Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson, Texas. They made their home in Washington, Texas, and she joined her husband''s home church Friedens Evangelical Church of Washington. Fritz and Lillian were blessed with three children, Don William, Charles Neal and Debbie Darlene Wellmann, who they raised in a Christian home. Lillian taught Sunday School at Friedens and always loved to help with the vacation Bible school. She was a member of Friedens Women''s Fellowship. In the early years of marriage while Fritz worked the family farm, she cooked a hot lunch for everyone that worked for Fritz. In 1966 she and Fritz opened Wellmann Hall in Washington for weddings, anniversaries and other gatherings. After Fritz''s death, the hall was closed for public rental. Lillian was a charter member of the Washington Civic Club and Washington Octoberfest. She was also a member of the Wm. Penn Extension Homemakers and later a charter member of the Washington TEA. She was a member of Navasota VFW Ladies Aux., Washington Farm Bureau and served on the Washington County Fair Country Creations Committee. Lillian loved to paint ceramics. Her most requested item was her Christmas trees. She sold trees to customers all over the United States. She also loved to crochet and work in the yard. She always looked forward to spring to see her daylilies bloom. Lillian was very competitive winning several awards across Texas for her ceramics. She also won many champions with ceramics, crochet, and flowers at the county fair. She loved to bake prize-winning recipes either in extension club, county fair and pecan shows. She was very proud of her champions and taught her children and grandsons how to bake. Lillian had a true love for entertaining people. She loved having the sewing group for lunch, 4th of July parties and Christmas open house. She made sure everyone was welcome and no one would go home hungry. She had an open door welcoming her kids'' friends, 4-H and FFA kids, and even an exchange student from the Dominican Republic. Lillian is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Jane Wellmann of Washington and Charles Neal and Sharon Wellmann of Conroe; daughter, Debbie Wellmann of Washington; her grandsons, Cody Wellmann of Conroe, Jon Wellmann of Washington, and Todd Wellmann of Conroe; brother-in-law, Bennie Wellmann of Washington; sisters-in-law, Leona Lunsford of Navasota and Mildred Schroeder of Anderson; sister- in-law and brother-in-law, Minnette and John Grice of Navasota; along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on November 8, 2002, brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Ardie Mae Schroeder, sister and brother-in-law Hilda and Edwin Molitor, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Melvin and Dorothy Wellmann, and brothers-in-law Albert Schroeder and Billy Lunsford.
