Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Lillie Hohlt was born January 21, 1925 in Burton to Herman F. and Emma Spitzer Schultz. She was baptized April 25, 1925 by Rev. Weber at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, where she was also confirmed on Sept. 3, 1939 by Rev. Lehne. On Dec. 7, 1944, she was married to Clarence W. Hohlt by Rev. Paul Czerkes, also at St. Paul Lutheran of Rehburg, where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Lillie served her church as a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also custodian at St. Paul Lutheran, cleaning the church for many years.

An avid quilter, she, along with her cousin, Norma Kelm, quilted for family and friends. Lillie worked beside her husband on the farm, raising cattle, chickens, cotton, and corn, as well as cutting cord wood. Lillie was employed at Maddox furniture and Nat’s Tiny Tots as a seamstress, and at Brenham Wholesale Grocery in the packing room.

Gardening was a favorite pastime. Helping to raise her grandchildren was one of her greatest accomplishments. Her great-grandson was a special joy to her. Lillie was always there to help anyone in need.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky R. and Janie Hohlt of San Antonio; daughters Bonnie McClain of Burton, and Lois Mooney of Brenham; grandchildren: Becky Mooney McDonald, Ryan and Rachel Rader Mooney, and Danny Hohlt, as well as one great-grandson, Ty McDonald.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother and sisters in-law, Fred and Audrey Schultz, Edmund and Rutha Mae Schultz; sisters and brothers-in-law Elsa and R.C. Newbury, Alma and Finos Burke.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
