Lillie Mikeska

Lillie Sophie Dierking Mikeska, 94, widow of Edmund Mikeska, passed away December 10, 2010 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Michael Groseclose officiating. Burial will take place in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Lillie was born January 4, 1916 in the Prairie Hill community of Washington County to Fritz and Bertha Heckmann Dierking. She was baptized March 12, 1916 at Salem Lutheran Church of Brenham by Pastor Mgebroff, and confirmed March 29, 1931 in St. James Lutheran of New Wehdem by Pastor Hoermann. Lillie attended school in the New Wehdem area. On Nov. 18, 1937, she was married to Edmund Mikeska in St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem by Pastor Smith. Her husband preceded her in death on June 23, 1986. A member of Nelsonville Brethren Church of Nelsonville, she was a homemaker, as well as a sales representative for the SPJST. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Paul Folsom of Brenham; five grandchildren: Paula Page, Steve Folsom and wife Becky, Donald Mikeska, Jr. and wife Lesley, Lori Smith and husband Brandt, and Anna Mikeska; great-grandchildren: Megan Kelm and husband Ryan, Corey Page and wife Elizabeth, Brent Folsom, Bryan Folsom and fiancé Haley Hundemer, Bradley Folsom, Drake Smith, and Brock Smith; great-great grandchildren: Reece Kelm and Makenna Kelm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Mikeska, son and daughter-in-law Donald and Jeannie Mikeska, two infant grandsons, her parents, a brother, two sisters and two infant brothers. Memorials may be directed to Nelsonville Brethren Church. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearer is her great-great-grandson.
