Lillie Penkert Muehlbrad, 100, of Burton, widow of August W. Muehlbrad, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center. Born October 20, 1908 in Greenvine, Texas to Gus and Louise Hodde Penkert, she was baptized January 1, 1909 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. On March 25, 1923, she was confirmed in the same church by Pastor A. C. Kaeppt. It was also in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine that she was married to August William Muehlbrad on October 20, 1929 by Pastor C. Ziehe. She was a homemaker, a member of St. John''s United Church of Christ of Burton, the Mary Martha Sewing Circle, and Circle Two. She had the distinction of being a charter member of the Burton 42 Club. A breast cancer survivor, she lived 31 years following her diagnosis in 1977. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy, and Ray Felder of Burton; daughter-in-law Doris Muehlbrad of Midland; grandchildren Greg Felder, Ann Knittel and husband Quirt, all of Burton; Karl Felder of Ft. Worth, Scott Muehlbrad and wife Christy and Brett Muehlbrad and wife Kristin, all of Midland; great-grandchlidren: Fawn Knittel of Sugar Land; Shawn Ware and wife Daphne, and Bryan Ware, all of College Station; Regan Muehlbrad and Hunter Muehlbrad of Midland; Sydnie Knittel of Burton and Caden Carson and Kindall Carson, both of Midland, and great-great grandson Connor Knittel of Sugar Land. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Ella Althaus of Beasley, and a brother-in-law, Arthur Fuelberg of Brenham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a son, Edsel W. Muehlbrad, five brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Lillie Penkert Muehlbrad will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John''s United Church of Christ with Mr. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, great-grandsons and great-granddaughters. Memorials may be directed to St. John''s United Church of Christ of Burton.
