Lloyd Arthur Behm passed away January 8, 2021 at the age of 82 in College Station, Texas.
Lloyd was born in 1938 in Niagara Falls, New York. His parents were Martha Gallman Behm and Arthur Louis Behm. His family moved to the Buffalo, New York area and Lloyd graduated from Williamsville Central High School. While serving in the US Air Force he was stationed in Waco, Texas where he met his future wife Frances Betros. They were married in 1964 after Lloyd returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. They had been married for 51 years in 2015 when Frances preceded Lloyd in death.
After earning a degree in Criminal Justice from South West Texas State University, Lloyd served as Public Safety Director for Woodway, Texas, Police Chief and City Administrator for Princeton, Texas and City Administrator for Somerville, Texas. He also served 9 years as the first General Manager for the 4 county Bluebonnet Groundwater Conservation District.
During his career Lloyd was involved in leadership roles in the Boy Scouts of America including serving on the Dallas District Scout Council (he was awarded the Silver Beaver for this service, helped organize and was a charter member of a new Rotary Club in Waco, Texas, President of the Princeton, Texas Lion Club and the Somerville Rotary Club. He also served on several committees for the Episcopal Church and served on the governing boards for Episcopal churches in McKinney and Brenham. He served on numerous other committees and boards in the communities where he lived.
Lloyd is survived by his sons Lloyd II and his wife Brandy; Gregory and his wife Kari, their sons, Blake, Andrew, and Matthew; his daughter Meredith Neumann; and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Brenham, Texas. Lloyd will be laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Peters Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Peters Episcopal Church in Brenham.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
